"Dear Bob, I loved
your squash..."
The Center for Research in Environmental Sciences and Technologies (CREST) is an environmental education center operated by the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. Opened in January 2002 and dedicated by Dr. Jane Goodall, the center offers outreach and on-site programs for students of the district, as well as teachers and the greater community.
Our School-day Programs focus on supporting science, service-learning and sustainability education in the district’s 13 different schools. You might find us leading a nature walk around school, a field trip to a nearby natural area, a garden experience, or a classroom science lesson. We also do teacher trainings and loan out science equipment. See Teachers for more information on school-day programs and also materials available for loan.
The CREST-Jane Goodall Science Symposium offers high school students the opportunity to complete an independent research or engineer project. As an affiliate of the Intel Science and Engineering Fair, students also have the opportunity to attend the state and international science fairs, and win scholarships and cash prizes. See Science for current information on this year’s Symposium.
Our newest program, CREST Farm-to-School, is an extension of our work with school gardens. The CREST Farm not only provides a valuable educational experience of a working farm, but also fresh vegetables for the school district and community. See Farm for the latest developments of this exciting program!
When school is not in session, CREST offers fee-based Learning-On-The-Go (LOTG) trips and Summer Camps. LOTG trips and camps are designed for kids who love science, being outside, and being active. These programs are available to families in or out of the school district. See Programs for upcoming trips and camps.
